Important Factors of Google Page Rank

By Fred Meek

Every webmaster wants higher Google rankings and the page rank given to your site by Google is a factor in the placement of your site in their organic search results. Knowing a little about page rank, how to attain it and how it affects your site is important to understand when building a website.
First and foremost is good content. The sole purpose of Google search results is to provide the searcher with exactly what they were looking for. The more Google has to analyze on your site, the better it can determine if that content is what the searcher is looking for. Keep in mind, more is not necessarily extra words. In fact, it actually means more information. Anyone can cram a bunch of words into a page but Google is smart. It knows junk from value when it comes to information. Keep your content focused and to the point.
Back links are another important factor in page rank. Your back links should come from very natural sources. Writing articles is a great way to obtain then naturally. While the article directories themselves are good for back links, it's what happens in time that makes them gold. If you write a great article, people will want to copy it and place it on their blog or website. Most directories require the entire article be posted when someone copies it for re-use. In doing this, you end up with a very natural back link, just they kind Google loves for better page rank. Again, good content in an article is what gets people to post them on their sites.
Besides writing articles, posting well thought out, helpful advice on forums and blogs will help. Be sure to use keyword rich anchor text. This can be time consuming but it is well worth it, as you will want to find sites not using the no follow tag. If you can get your links out there on a few blogs or forums with page ranks of 3-5, you'll be happy with the results. Take your time. Make sure your posts are relevant to the subject at hand. Be sure to bookmark these sites and stop back once in a while to post. Don't be a stranger to blogs and forums of high page rank that you can contribute to and leave back links.
The structure of your site is also important. Even the meta title is important. Google does not actually use this for page rank but it helps with search results and it is what searchers see as a title in the search results. A well written meta title tag will get them to click onto your site! The H1 title tag is also very important on your site. Use it wisely, choosing your first 5 or so words very carefully and make sure they are sprinkled in throughout the content.
Above all, whether you are writing articles, posting on blogs or forums, think of the reader first, not the search engine and your good page rankings will come naturally over time.
